The housing proposed is design to cater for a broad range of inhabitants across different cultural and houshold types. A mix of housing types and sizes is proposed. Primarily the houses are a courtyard typology in response to the local climactic conditions. Courtyard houses also provide private spaces for families and allow for the separation of functions. The second most important feature of the houses are dual access to both front and rear of every dwelling. There is a front street and a rear lane. The purpose of this is threefold. Firstly it provides house fronts that are not cluttered with driveways and garage openings. Secondly servicing, such as refuse collection is carried out to the rear of the property providing high quality residential addresses. Thirdly it better potential for cross flow ventilation with rooms having opining in external walls and courtyard walls.
